The beauty of the world surrounds us. Immeasurable. Compelling. Magnificent. And yet too often, we do not see what is before our eyes.

The road less traveled is often asbeautiful as it can be dangerous. Most of the photos in this collection were taken there. From the remains of an old stage coach depot in Wells-Fargo, Utah, to the back woods of rural Roatan, there is no end to moments where time stands still. In a photograph, a moment lasts forever.

Sometimes, in the most ordinary moment, there is immeasurable beauty. Case in point is the series called "After the Rayn." The flowers in this series were next to to Falcon's mail box. They live forever now, in these images.
In early 2002, Falcon purchased his first camera - a 2 MP Olympus which soon gave way to a 4 MP version. From April through September, 2002, as Falcon traveled in Europe, he recorded what he saw. In October of 2002, Falcon and JD spent endless nyghts wandering the rural roads of North Carolina much as Falcon had in Europe.

To this day, the NyghtFalcon style is shaped by the lessons learned wandering the nyght. Influenced by photo-journalism, the firm's work reflects the tradition's view of the world and its commitment to telling the human story, wherever it might emerge. These galleries recount some of those stories and demonstrated the firm's commitment to seeing the world again for the first time.

It is our Prime Directive: Observe but do NOT intrude. Look but do not judge.

"The dirt road disappeared from Trujillo and soon jungle replaced the worn homes and poverty of the city. Across streams, through rutted street in make-shift towns we continued until our vehicles came to rest. There a cluster of hovels, a people starngely a part of and yet apart from the world in which we lived. Perhaps a dozen homes, a dozen families.

We call them the People of the River. And that day, as she looked up at me, her face covered by the kitten she cherished, I violated our Prime Directive. I took her kitten and I held it as I would hold my most precious possession. Had I not I would have turned away from her desire to know that however different, I too was human...." (From "The People of the River")

In these galleries is the record of our encounter with other people and other places - a record of our quest to understand what it means to be human.

The Special Collection is reserved for series that have receive critical acclaim or which embody an important aspect of our work. Many of these images have never been published prior to the redesign of this web site. Each photo is chosen because of its artistic and emotional power.

Three of these series, "My Immortal," "I Know Thy Grief", and the photos of Torment, are collaborative efforts between Falcon and three of his muses. "Passion, Innocence and Death" features Mourning. Falcon worked extensively with her just prior to his work with Torment. While there wasn't the emotional bond that Falcon has shared with isis, Torment and Katherine, Falcon's work with Mourning was nonetheless quite powerful. In 2006, this series was featured in the "Face of Woman" exhibit.

Olde Sheldon Church is a remarkable site. JD and Falcon have worked there three times. Shrouded in Spanish moss and still tended by the descendents of the families who built it, it lives with countless memories. The sepia tones used in many of these photos speaks to the sadness and grief that still lingers there.

There is an unmistakable Gothic edge to our work. It can be seen in the way we approach light. It can be seen in the soft edge of the shadows that are ever present. It can be felt in the depth of the emotion that emerges in every aspect of our work. It can be touched in the face of every person we have ever photographed. Unmistakable. Inescapable. Haunting.

And yet, it isn't the morbid fascination with death that sustains and nurtures that edge. For us it is far more than that. It is about time itself. It is about mortality. It is about, as Camus said, "learning to be human in order to avoid being god." Objects exist in space and time, and as Heidegger noted, time is the expression of our mortality. We are born from nothingness and we pass into nothingness - and ironically, that which defines us as our "own most" possibility, brings to an end the very humanity it defines.

How we die, then, defines our humanity. As Nietzsche wrote in "Beyond Good and Evil," how we die - how we judge our lives at the last moment - shapes our life as an artist shapes a canvas. At death, we become no more. We are, and we are beautiful, or, we are ugly. Where better to stand in judgement of oneself. where better to seek the answer, "What does it mean to be human?" than in the place where no humanity remains?
Founded in January 2003, the House of NyghtFalcon is a division of the Maru Consortium, a Swiss consulting firm. Falcon, Senior Partner, and JD Milazzo, started NyghtFalcon Photography together. In 2010, the firm changed its name to The House of NyghtFalcon, in order to reflect the firm’s changing focus. With the acquisition of BluFlame6 Video Productions in early 2010, coupled with a growing commitment to its seminar business, an emerging fashion and design business, photography was just one aspect of a growing compliment of products and services.

In 2010, the firm also changed its “tag line” from “The Fine Art of Photography” which it has used since the firm’s founding to “See the World Again. For the First Time.” This change reflected the firm’s trademark “Any where. Any time. Any circumstance. World Class” commitment to its clients - a commitment that has taken the firm into extremely harsh and demanding situations and coupled it with emotionally powerful images that captivate the viewer.

The firm offers its clients photography, videography, graphic design. digital media design, interactive video, fashion and apparel design, seminars and on line courseware for photographers and videographers, fine art prints, and consultative services. Curently, the firm maintains a presence in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, South Beach, Savanah, Louisville, and Greensboro, NC.
