The images collected here are from all over the world. Some areas of special interest appear in dedicated galleries. Many of the landscapes in this gallery were created at dawn or late in the afternoon as the day nears sunset. During these times, the sun is low in the sky, nearing the horizon. The warm, golden tones of the Golden Hour seem to bring the world to life with a vibrancy not seen at other times of the day.

The low angle of the sun also serves to enhance the colors that the camera “sees.” Coupled with our ability to emulate film - essentially an ability to make a digital image look like it was created with film - further enhances the visual experience of the moment.

The waterfall photographs, like the one on the facing page, are the product of long exposures. Not easy to master - too long an exposure looses the experience of moving water - long exposures extend the sense of timelessness that one experiences when alone in the natural world.
