JD looked at Falcon as if to say, “Do you see that?” Falcon had. Torment had her arms wrapped tightly around a tombstone as though offering comfort to one whose grief she alone could feel. Torment stood and looked at them. She smiled. “I let them tell me where to go,” she said, then she turned and went off in search of another voice only she could hear.

Torment continued to move through the cemetery. Falcon followed her, doing what he could to position himself effectively in an ever darkening world. The three remained in the cemetery until the sun was nearly below the horizon. They talked about a project – documenting the cemetery – and outlined the next steps. It would never be. But an incredible body of work would be created in its stead

Many of the photos from that day were lost in a hard drive failure in late 2006 – an event Falcon regrets to this day. The finish in these photos – a duotone – has also been lost. For Falcon, this serves to make these images even more precious.
